The 1999 SciWorld Online Convention was an online simming and role-playing convention that was held on America Online from Thursday, March 18 to Monday, March 22, 1999. Organized by the Simming League, the convention featured events run by members from various communities that were open to all simmers and online role-players, regardless of rank or club affiliation. It was the first SciWorld Online Convention ever held.
Events[]
Chat events[]
The events took place in chat rooms on America Online and were run by members of Ashes of the Rebellion, Federation Sim Fleet, Independent Fleet, Intergalactic Simulation Organization, Online Simulations Association, Trek Online, United Federation of Nations, United League of Starships and the USS Hickory.

Aftermath and Legacy[]
The success of the 1999 SciWorld Online Convention spawned annual conventions. The model pioneered at the 1999 Convention - with events run by members from multiple communities, and the convention open to all - set a precedent followed by future SciWorlds.
Ender Maki, Tashak, and Chas Hammer were awarded the 1999 Simming Prize for Peace for their efforts.
Inspired by SciWorld, the AOL sponsored Non Affiliated Gaming Forum attempted to organize its own simming convention in the summer of 1999, but this work never advanced past the planning stage.
