Blue Dwarf is a roleplaying game based in the same world as the comedy sci-fi TV series Red Dwarf. It is a game played using OngoingWorlds website.

The Blue Dwarf game is set in the fictional universe of Red Dwarf, but with original characters. It was originally setup in 2000 by David Ball.

HistoryEdit

After running for 11 years in the timeframe of the 1st episode of Red Dwarf, the story was moved to the '3 million years later' timeframe that serves as setting for most of the original Red Dwarf series.

In October 2011, the Blue Dwarf game relocated from a Yahoo Group into OngoingWorlds, where it is currently being played.[1]

Blue Dwarf is a fan fiction continuation of the Red Dwarf, about the crew of the Blue Dwarf, who are searching for Red Dwarf.

StoryEdit

Trapped on the wrong side of the galaxy, the crew have been in stasis for 3 million years, waiting for the Cadmium II radiation to subside. Now they've been woken, but the Blue Dwarf isn't exactly how they left it. They need to re-explore the ship they've known as their home, but they're not alone. Many strange and yet unknown creatures have evolved and now inhabit the ship along with our crewmembers.

The 11th year rebootEdit

After running for 11 years in the timeframe of the 1st episode of Red Dwarf, the story was moved to the '3 million years later' timeframe that is the setting for most of the original Red Dwarf series.

After a battle with the corrupt JMC, the Blue Dwarf was sucked through a giant unstoppable wormhole, and a character still loyal to the JMC planted a bomb at the Blue Dwarf's engine core. The engine ruptured, creating a leak of cadmium II that plagued the Red Dwarf in the series.

The members of Blue Dwarf awoke 3 million years later (the amount of time for the radiation to subside) to find the Blue Dwarf not quite as they left it.

Playing the gameEdit

It is a play-by-post 'role playing' game on OngoingWorlds . New members are required to create a character as part of the application process. Then when joined, each character takes it in turn to write fiction which continues the story of the Blue Dwarf using the existing characters

PodcastEdit

A audio podcast was launched in January 2013 which chronicles the stories written from May 2011 onwards. The podcast is available on iTunes, or as an RSS feed
