A dryad is a tree nymph, a creature from Greek mythology. Though originally only referring to the spirits of oak trees, the word dryad is now used for nymphs of all trees. The different types of dryads are usually named after the tree they reside in. An exception is the Hamadryad, who are linked to the oak or popular tree but can be associated with any tree and is a separate type because of the stronger bond with trees.
