25 years after the end of the Dominion War, the Federation is ready to return to the ideals upon which it was founded -- to exploration and diplomacy, to a mission of peace, discovery, and communication. A small fleet of exploratory vessels, using slipstream technology brought back from the Delta Quadrant by the USS Voyager, travel beyond the galactic barrier and go truly where no one has gone before: the Andromeda Galaxy, a place where forces much larger than they are constantly at work, where their political alliances are shaky and their risks great.
Their mission: to learn everything they can about this utterly alien environment far from the support of the Federation, where intrigue, scientific discovery, and violent conflict are all just part of the job.
Star Trek: Andromeda began on May 6, 2008 as the USS Odyssey, NCC-71832-B under the command of Captain William Jonathan Andrews and Commander Jenna Rosalind Wolfe; it operated independently for several months before being admitted to the Federation Sim Fleet in October '08, at which point the GMs assumed the names FSF Strider and FSF Blackjack respectively. The game was assigned to FSF's Alpha Fleet in a 9:30-10:30 Tuesday time slot.
Star Trek: Andromeda is currently commanded by FSF Blackjack (Captain Jenna Wolfe) and FSF Borealis (Commander Saylek T'Ren). The game follows extensive and heavily action-driven overarching extended storylines with a great deal of plot and character development taking place in between-sim logs. The story is generally divided between political developments, scientific investigation, technological research, humanitarian efforts, and the occasional war. How to JoinEdit
Andromeda is an IRC-based roleplay which runs Tuesday nights from 9:30-10:30PM EST beginning May 6, 2008. The chat takes place on the FSF IRC server and can also be accessed through the game's official site at TrekAndromeda.com. Character logs can be found on the STA forums at Star Trek: Andromeda. If you decide you want to participate, follow FSF registration procedures to be assigned to the game. From there, you can begin posting on the forums, create logs alone or with your fellow players for character development, and prepare to join one of the Tuesday night full simulations.
