Simming History Edit
The USS Potemkin is a United Space Federation sim. It was founded in 1994, and remains active to this day. Originally commanded by Captain Mondox, she was launched during the USF's first year, named by Captain Connery of the USS Stealth after the Battleship Potemkin from the film of the same name.
During Captain Christiaan Back's tenure in 1999, a portion of the crew from the Potemkin-C left the USF, and a Potemkin-C became one of the Starfleet Legacy Alliance's founding sims. A Potemkin sim was continued in the USF as the Potemkin-D, and subsequently the Potemkin-E and Potemkin-F.
The Potemkin abides by the USF's strict rules against graphic scenes of sex and violence in sims and in logs, however it does tackle themes more suited towards mature players. You won't find many light hearted sims there as it tends to lean toward sims that are more serious. It likes to explore interpersonal relationships between friends, crewmembers, and family. It should also be noted that while it keeps to the ideals of the Federation, it does not stick strictly to Star Trek Canon.
The Potemkin sim takes place every Thursday at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.

Fictional History Edit
In its initial incarnation, the Potemkin was an Excelsior-class starship bearing the registry number NCC-1711-A. Its relation to the Excelsior-class assignment of William T. Riker is unclear. This ship was commanded by Captain Mondox and later by Captain Putty, once its chief engineer. The ship was lost under Putty's command, but the saucer section, separated from the drive section shortly before the Potemkin-A's destruction, survived. The battered saucer was towed to Starbase Horizon and later placed on display in a museum. Captain Putty was presumed dead, but in actuality mysteriously escaped and was discovered alive hours later in a Starfleet fighter.
The U.S.S. Potemkin NCC-1711-B might truly be considered a monster. Designed and constructed by a team headed up by Captain Alexander "Putty" O'Brien, the Potemkin-B served faithfully for just over a year before being lost to the Jem'Hadar during an impressive battle. The ship's unusual design (72 decks, dual redundant warp cores and a quad nacelle configuration) made it one of the first ships to have variable-geometry warp field capabilities. This ship, by far the most unusual to bear the name Potemkin, was home to many of the Potemkin's greatest heroes.
Another Potemkin, the Potemkin-C, was launched under the command of Captain Sierra M'Hawarr Keui'Shen following the Potemkin-B's destruction. An Akira-class vessel, this ship bore the registry number NCC-76927-C, switching to a spaceframe numbering scheme and abandoning the inherited NCC-1711 registry number born by its namesakes. After approximately two years, command was transferred to Captain Christiaan Back.
Under the command of Captain Dmoney, the new Norway-class Potemkin was launched, and carried a registry number of NCC-76927-D.
The next incarnation of the USS Potemkin was a Dauntless-class vessel, NCC-76926-E.
At present, the USS Potemkin-F is commanded by Captain Jade. The bridge plaque reads: We gain strength, and courage, and confidence by each experience in which we really stop to look fear in the face... we must do that which we think we cannot. -Eleanor Roosevelt
